System Access Requirements

To perform administrative functions in the Biometric Attendance System, you must be logged in with appropriate privileges:

Main Administrator

Full system access including user management, system configuration, and data export.

Login

Administrator

Most administrative functions including user enrollment and SMS operations.

Login

Developer

Technical access including system configuration and debugging.

Login

If you don't have appropriate privileges, you will be redirected to the login page when attempting to access restricted functions.

Adding Users to the System

1 Export Current User List

Navigate to the NamesList page and click:

This downloads a CSV file containing all current users.

2 Edit User List

Open the CSV file and follow these guidelines:

Start each class/group with the class name in the Name column
Leave blank rows between classes for future additions
Admission numbers and secondary contacts are optional

3 Import Updated List

After editing, upload the CSV file:

The "Clear & Import" action will completely replace the existing database.

Don't change the list order once the users are enrolled

Updating Biometric Data & Enrollment

1 Download Updated List to Machine

From your authorized phone, send the following SMS command to the biometric machine's number:

Download nameslist

The machine will connect to the database and download the current user list.

2 Initiate Fingerprint Enrollment

After receiving confirmation that the download is complete, send:

Replace fingers

Wait for the machine to respond with instructions.

3 Specify User Range

Reply to the machine's message with the range of users to enroll. You can specify ranges in these example formats:

2-4 - For a continuous range
2,3,4 - For specific individuals
1-4,15,25,33-45 - For multiple ranges/individuals

SMS Communication with Parents

1 Initiate SMS Mode

From your authorized phone, send:

Send sms

Wait for the machine to respond with instructions.

2 Compose Your Message

Reply with the message you want to send to parents/guardians:

You have approximately 400 seconds (6-7 minutes) to compose and send your message
Don't include a greeting (e.g., "Dear parent") as this will be added automatically

3 Specify User Range

Reply to the machine's message with the range of target audience in these example formats:

2-4 - For a continuous range
2,3,4 - For specific individuals
5,25,33-45 - For multiple ranges/individuals

Biometric Machine SMS Commands

Send these commands via SMS to the biometric device:

Command	Description
Enroll	Same as "Replace fingers" but skips occupied slots
Sms Balance	Check remaining SMS bundle balance
Send sms	Send bulk SMS to registered numbers
Download nameslist	Download user names from database to device
Delete fingers	Remove fingerprints in specified range
Delete All Fingers	Permanently deletes ALL fingerprints
Clocking in	Force clock-in mode (or press In button)
Clocking Out	Force clock-out mode (or press Out button)
Reset	Reset clock-in/out mode
Attach sms	Append message to notifications (e.g., `Attach sms=Remember to clear fees by 5th`)
?	Display all available commands

The blue side buttons can power cycle/reset the machine (same as On/Off buttons).

Power Recommendations

Avoid powering off for extended periods (>1 month) to maintain system stability.
